House Rural Developmental Council
The House Rural Development Council was created during the 2017 Session of the General Assembly (see HR 389 attached). The members of the Council were appointed by the Speaker of the House on April 19, 2017 (see attached). This Council will meet numerous times around the state over the next two years to identify policies and ideas to enhance economic opportunity across the entire state, particularly in rural areas. ACCG, GMA, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and our state universities will assist the Council with their efforts over the next two year. It is important for county officials to actively participate in this effort and attend regional meetings held in their area of the state. The council will be looking at issues such as rural broadband, rural healthcare, infrastructure, education and job creation. If you have examples of challenges faced in your county or successful ways you have overcome some of these challenges, please notify Clint Mueller at ACCG, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first meeting of the Council recently took place on May 22nd and 23rd, all meeting supplementals such as video of the meeting and presentations are available on the Georgia House of Representatives website: http://www.house.ga.gov/Committees/en-US/HouseRuralDevelopmentCouncil.aspx.
