STATE 

Local Road Assistance Administration (LRA) Funding

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is now accepting applications for the Local Road Assistance Administration (LRA) funds until June 15, 2024. The Governor and the General Assembly included $250 million in LRA funds in the amended fiscal year 2024 budget. The LRA funds will be administered and distributed using GDOT's GRANTS (LMIG) Application System. Eligible activities/projects for LRA funds will be the same as the LMIG program. Solid Waste Trust and Grant Funding
 
Georgia EPD is pleased to announce $3.5M in Solid Waste Trust Fund (SWTF) Grant funding for FY24 to support recycling, waste diversion, and scrap tire abatement and reuse. For more information click here

 

Home Energy Rebate Programs 

The Federal Inflation Reduction Act included two rebate programs for home energy efficiency and home electrification projects. GEFA expects the rebates to be available to Georgia residents no later than September 30, 2024

Rural Workforce Housing Initiative Construction Loan 

Local governments can now apply for a Rural Workforce Housing Initiative Construction Loan Fund. The Fund provides construction loans of up to $1 million at 0% to develop new homes with a sale price of between $125,000 - $290,000 for homebuyers. Funds are available to cover 40% of the development cost, with the remaining budget provided through other fund sources. Funds will be awarded to developments that can have the homes ready for sale within two years of the loan award date.

FEDERAL

USDOT SMART Grant 

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is currently accepting Stage 1 applications for its Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grants Program. During Stage 1, the SMART program will fund technology demonstrations and prototypes that solve real-world transportation problems and build data and technology capacity for local governments. Stage 1 grant recipients will be eligible to expand their projects during Stage 2 later this year. Applications must be submitted through Valid Eval by Friday, July 12 at 5:00 PM ET
