ACCG Virtual Policy Issue Update and 2023 Policy Agenda Online Voting

Due to the cancellation of last week’s Legislative Leadership Conference (LLC) because of Hurricane Ian, the ACCG Executive Committee approved the following timeline regarding the 2023 Policy Agenda Adoption Process that would have taken place at the LLC. Please thoroughly review the below information for significant updates.

  1. Monday, October 10 by 12:00 p.m. – Deadline to submit amendments to the proposed 2023 ACCG Policy Agenda. Proposed amendments must be submitted on an ACCG Amendment Form and co-signed by five (5) commissioners that are each from a different county in good standing. Co-signatures may be accepted in the form of an email stating the commissioners’ support of the amendment. Completed, proposed amendments must be submitted to President Melissa Hughes ([email protected]) and ACCG Legislative Director Clint Mueller ([email protected]). Amendments submitted prior to September 29th do not need to be resubmitted. ACCG will provide a copy of all submitted amendments to President Melissa Hughes.
  2. Tuesday, October 11 at 9:00 a.m.  – The ACCG policy team hosted a virtual Policy Issue Update via Zoom webinar. They provided an overview of the proposed 2023 Policy Agenda and Recommended Legislative Priorities, as well as any amendments received. Click here to view the recording. All county officials are highly encouraged to review the recording, especially those serving as their county’s voting delegate.
  3. Tuesday, October 11 by 12:00 p.m. – Deadline to submit name of someone other than the county chair, sole commissioner, CEO, or mayor of a consolidated government, to serve as the county voting delegate. For counties that have not already appointed a voting delegate, please do so by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 by submitting your voting delegate form to Tottianna Davis ([email protected]). According to ACCG’s policy procedures, if a county does not appoint a voting delegate, then the chair, sole commissioner, CEO, or mayor of a consolidated government shall be the voting delegate. The chair, CEO, or mayor may designate another member of the governing authority – but not a county staff member – to vote in his or her stead, but only if such designation is made prior to 12:00 p.m. on October 11. Click here to access the voting delegate form.
  4. Wednesday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m. – ACCG Credentials Committee to hold virtual meeting to certify and approve the voting delegates. Following the Credentials Committee Meeting, voting delegates will receive information about the online voting process.
