2018 County Days at the Capitol

District Days at the Capitol have a new name! County Days at the Capitol, formerly District Days, immerses Georgia's county officials in the policymaking process by placing them in contact with their state counterparts, elected and appointed, so that they can engage in dialogue about proposed legislation and other significant issues that have a direct impact on county government.

Since its inception, County Days at the Capitol have been dedicated to connecting Georgia's county officials with state legislators and other key decision makers as bills move through the legislative process. This day in the life opens the door for county leaders to experience the daily processes that the ACCG policy staff, state legislators, and state agency heads endure during the 40 days in which the General Assembly is in session under the Gold Dome.  County officials and staff are encouraged to attend this annual event to strengthen ties with their state legislators, receive updates on important issues as they move through the legislative process, and hear firsthand from state agency leaders and the ACCG policy team about their plan of action to address countywide concerns. This is your chance as county leaders to represent county government and to be the voice for your constituents.

*County officials can anticipate to hear from Michael Nix, director of the state's Local Government 911 Authority, and Revenue Commissioner Lynne Riley as they are confirmed for both dates while Gov. Nathan Deal and House Speaker David Ralston are confirmed for February. 28. Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is confirmed for March 7.
